YSS Bijbehara Lifts U/17 Girls Handball, YSS Achabal Clinches Baseball Championship

Srinagar, June 12: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Anantnag, Thursday concluded a series of District Level Inter Zonal and  inter-school sports competitions across multiple zones, aimed at fostering youth engagement in sports, promoting discipline, and encouraging a drug-free lifestyle.

*Zone Bijbehara* lifted the Under-17 Girls Handball Championship held at HSS Wanpoh, overcoming stiff competition and showcasing outstanding coordination and team spirit despite high temperature. The event attracted students from multiple government and private schools representing their Zones, highlighting the growing enthusiasm among girls for handball and other competitive sports.

*Zone Achabal* emerged victorious in the district-Level Inter-Zonal Baseball Tournament for U/17 Boys held at HSS Dailgam. The final match saw Zone Achabal defeat Zone Shangus in a thrilling contest, securing the championship title.

*Zone Shangus* conducted Day 2 of the Inter-School U/14 Boys Competitions today at HSS Uttersoo. The event commenced with an anti-drug pledge by all staff and student participants, emphasizing the department’s commitment to a healthy, drug-free society. Over 385 students took part in events like Volleyball, Kabaddi, and Kho-Kho, and in Volleyball MS Sheikhpora, in Kho-Kho MS Sheikhpora, and in Kabaddi MS Paison Clinched the concerned titles

*Zone Bheibehra* inaugurated Zonal Level U/14 Boys Kabaddi today at BMHSS Bijbehara with around 260 students from various middle schools participated in the opening day matches. The event was marked by student interaction with field officials and is scheduled to conclude tomorrow.

*Zone Achabal* also organized U/17 Girls’ competitions in Volleyball, Kabaddi, and Kho-Kho today at GHS Dialgam with 271 girls participating across all three disciplines, the results recorded as winners category in Volleyball, Kabaddi & Kho-Kho was in favour of Hanfia School Dialgam emerged winners in all three, while GHS Achabal and HSS Damhall were runners-up in various events.

These combined events reflect the Department of Youth Services and Sports’ ongoing commitment to youth development, sports promotion, and community engagement across Anantnag district.
