Srinagar, May 26: At a vibrant interactive session held at Foreshore, Shalimar, renowned Sufi thinker Khwaja Farooq Renzushah Monday highlighted the historical and spiritual significance of Tailbal as a centre of Tasawwuf.
Addressing a gathering of young artisans and learners, he called for the revival of ancient musafir khanas and sara’ais at Sufi shrines, khankahs, and madrasas across Kashmir as dedicated spaces for young women to learn traditional handicrafts and digital skills.
“These sacred spaces must serve the future,” said Renzushah. “Empowering the younger generation, especially women, with spiritual wisdom, craftsmanship, and modern knowledge is key to preserving and promoting Kashmir’s unique cultural identity.” The event was organised by Syeda Mariyum Duha, President of Dukhtaran-e-Tasawwuf and witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth. Jenab Jeelani Sahib hosted the gathering at his residence near the shrine of Hazrat Meerak Shah Sahib.
Prominent Sufi poet and Hazrat Abrar Foundation President, Jenab Manzoor Damdar, shared insights on the spiritual essence of Kashmir’s arts. The session began with Tilawat-e-Quran by Syeda Mariyum Duha, who also spoke on the role of Tasawwuf in nurturing creativity and resilience. Mr Tanveer later briefed participants on skill development opportunities. The programme blended spirituality, tradition, and technology—laying a vision for cultural revival rooted in both heritage and innovation.
