Srinagar, May 26: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) organised a youth convention at Rafiabad, presided over by the constituency’s contesting candidate, Altaf Malik.
During the event, Malik addressed the youth, highlighting the party’s “pro-people” agenda. Several young attendees joined the party fold and pledged to promote and carry forward its initiatives, a statement issued here said.
In his speech, Malik said the PDP is committed to actively fighting for the rights and issues faced by people across Jammu and Kashmir, both inside and outside the Assembly.
He said youth can play a pivotal role in societal reforms and urged the government to harness their potential by promoting sports activities, which can help keep them away from social evils such as drug addiction.
Altaf urged the government to ensure the delivery of basic necessities to the people, including electricity, water, healthcare and roads. He appealed to authorities to activate all lift irrigation schemes in Rafiabad, Zaingare and other areas, and to improve drinking water facilities for the local population.
