These competitions, overseen by District Youth Services and Sports Officer Ghulam Hassan Lone, are being held with great enthusiasm and community participation.
In particular, the Narbal zone, located on the Gulmarg Highway, is hosting matches at the Open Ground Batpora Kanihama, while the Soibug zone’s events are taking place at the Synthetic Turf Ground Soibug. Under-14 and Under-17 boys’ Kho-Kho competitions are underway in both zones, drawing participation from several schools affiliated with each zone. The grounds came alive with a festive, colourful atmosphere as students showcased their athleticism and team spirit.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Ghulam Hassan Lone inaugurated the tournaments as Chief Guest. He was joined by Zonal Physical Education Officers and Shakeel-ur-Rehman Lone, In-charge of Sports Activities in Budgam. Addressing the young athletes, the Chief Guest urged them to steer clear of drugs and channel their energy into sports. He also encouraged them to excel both in their academics and on the field. The tournament witnessed vibrant participation from various school teams, with a large number of children attending and cheering from the sidelines. The zonal-level engagement not only added zest to the national ‘Fit India’ campaign but also effectively promoted the message of embracing an active lifestyle and shunning sedentary habits.
