Srinagar, May 17: The Youth Services and Sports Department Zone Dangerpora Saturday organised an Inter-School Girls Badminton Competition at Higher Secondary School Dangerpora. The event featured enthusiastic participation from 35 schools across the zone, with matches held under the age categories of Under-14 and Under-17.
The event was graced by the Vice Principal of Higher Secondary Dangerpora as the Chief Guest, who interacted with the young participants and extended his encouragement to the budding players. He lauded the efforts of the department in promoting sports culture among girls and highlighted the importance of extracurricular activities in shaping well-rounded personalities. In the Under-17 category, the doubles title was clinched by Saniya Shafi and Mehvish Firdous of GHS Hardushiva, while Ummat Jan emerged as the winner in the singles event. In the Under-14 category, Tabish and Misbah of GHS Brathkalan secured the doubles championship, and Sobiya Jan of GMS Hathlango was crowned the singles winner. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the All Over Incharge, Kousar ul Hassan, who appreciated the efforts of all participating schools, sports staff, and students. He also oversaw the distribution of certificates among the winners, encouraging them to continue pursuing excellence in sports alongside academics. The day proved to be a celebration of talent, sportsmanship, and the spirit of healthy competition among young girls of Zone Dangerpora.
