Srinagar/ Jammu : The Jammu and Kashmir Government Tuesday said that all educational institutions, including both government and private schools in the districts of Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, and Samba, will be closed on May 14, 2025.
Additionally, schools located in the border areas of Kupwara, Baramulla, and the Gurez subdivision of Bandipora will also remain closed.
The Ministry of Education, Sakina ltoo informed Rising Kashmir that schools and colleges near border areas in Jammu and Kashmir will be closed.
“The concerned officials from the school education department have issued directives regarding the closure of education institutions into the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir,” she said.
The Director of School Education Jammu confirmed that all government and private schools in the aforementioned districts will not operate on May 14, 2025.
However, schools in Udhampur district and the Bani, Basholi, Mahanpur, Bhaddu, Malhar, and Billawar zones of Kathua district will remain open.
Similarly, all government and private schools in Kupwara will resume operations, except for those in border areas. In Baramulla, schools will reopen tomorrow, with the exception of those in the Uri subdivision, including Uri, Jhulla, Chandanwari, and Boniyar, while schools in the Gurez subdivision will remain closed.
Dr. Majid Zaman Baba, the Controller of Examinations said that all university examinations scheduled up to and including May 18, 2025, have been postponed, with revised dates to be published on the university’s official website.
The University of Jammu had previously declared the postponement of all examinations up to May 18 due to ongoing border disturbances.
Previously, on May 8, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) in Rajouri announced the postponement of all examinations planned between May 13 and May 17.
The Dean of Academic Affairs at NIT Srinagar stated that online classes will persist until June 6, with in-person classes set to begin on June 11.
In the meantime, all schools and colleges in non-border districts of the union territory have resumed normal operations following the Jammu and Kashmir administration’s decision to reopen educational institutions starting May 13, 2025.
