Anantnag, Dec 03: Setting a benchmark in the implementation of faceless vehicle services, the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) in Anantnag has made it to the top among the districts in Jammu and Kashmir.
ARTO Anantnag has achieved a rare feat of disposing of 95.88 per cent cases this year.
According to officials, of the 2574 applications received by the office, 2468 have been disposed of.
The data was compiled based on all faceless services provided by the Transport Department of J&K from Sept 23 to Nov 23 for all offices.
Faceless services involve digital platforms and automation to reduce physical interactions, thus making services more accessible and convenient for the general public. It highlights the importance of adopting technology to modernize administrative functions, enhance transparency, and provide better services to citizens.
“The implementation of faceless vehicle services represents a significant step forward in leveraging technology to streamline processes and enhance efficiency in the transportation sector,” said Zubar Ahmad, ARTO Anantnag. “This achievement not only reflects our commitment to embracing innovative solutions but also sets a benchmark for others to follow.”
Faceless services in transport offices involve online transactions, document submissions, and communication, reducing the need for individuals to visit the office physically.
“This approach can contribute to a smoother and more streamlined process for vehicle-related services,” Zubair said. “Such advancements play a crucial role in transforming traditional bureaucratic processes and contribute to the overall digitization and modernization of government services.”
Data available with the ARTO Anantnag shows since Jan 1 this year, it has issued 4227 new driving licenses, 18,027 learning licenses. The office has generated a revenue of Rs 1.52 Crore so far.
To minimise accidents and curb reckless driving, the ARTO Anantnag this year has suspended 116 permits, 58 driving licences and seven RCs.
