Ganderbal, Mar 18: In a significant step towards digitization and improved public service delivery, the Jal Shakti (Public Health Engineering, PHE) Department of Jammu and Kashmir has launched an online billing system for water consumers. The new system, available through the Jammu & Kashmir Water Billing Application, aims to streamline the billing process and offer greater convenience to residents.
Speaking to the media, Xen PHE Ganderbal, Samiullah Beigh, emphasised the benefits of the initiative. “The online billing system is a move towards modernising our services, ensuring transparency and efficiency. Consumers can now view their water bills, make payments, and track usage from the comfort of their homes,” he said.
The Jammu & Kashmir Water Billing Application is designed to be user-friendly, allowing consumers to register using their mobile numbers or consumer IDs. Once registered, users can access current and past bills, receive payment reminders, and pay securely online. The app also offers detailed information on water usage, helping consumers monitor their consumption patterns.
This initiative is part of the Jal Shakti Department’s ongoing efforts to leverage technology for better governance and service delivery. By reducing the need for physical visits to billing offices, the online system is expected to save time, reduce errors, and eliminate delays in billing.
Residents of Jammu and Kashmir have welcomed the move, with many expressing appreciation for the department’s efforts to embrace digital solutions. “This is a much-needed upgrade. Paying water bills online will make life so much easier,” said a local resident from Ganderbal.
