Jammu, Mar 08: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday hailed the transformation of women empowerment from a slogan to a revolution under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, women empowerment has now become a mass movement. A new era of Women-Led Development has begun in J&K. Today, our Nari Shakti are scripting their own success stories and have become active partners in the development journey of Jammu and Kashmir,” he remarked.
Addressing the ‘Sashakt Nari Samman’ event in Jammu, LG Sinha emphasised that women’s role in shaping the future of humanity is immense and said, “She has been endowed with a special gift from existence to nurture creativity and drive social change.”
The event, organised by Buddha Art and Painting in collaboration with Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, celebrated the achievements of women artists and artisans in Jammu & Kashmir.
Sinha highlighted the remarkable contributions of women to the region’s development, stating, “Women artists and artisans are the architects of sustainable development. Their creativity, compassion, and love make them unique.”
LG Sinha also underscored the growing participation of women in various sectors, noting, “Women artists and artisans have enriched the art and craft sector, strengthening the cultural fabric of J&K. Many artisans in J&K and across the country have achieved new milestones, while others are paving the way for a brighter future.”
The Lieutenant Governor also celebrated the achievements of women in various professional fields, including engineering, law, medicine, and education, calling them “role models” for the nation.
He also highlighted how the increased participation of women in the contemporary art and craft sectors has enriched the cultural fabric of Jammu and Kashmir, stating, “Greater participation of women artists and artisans in the contemporary Art and Craft arena has strengthened the fabric of our cultural ethos. Many artisans in J&K and the country have achieved new milestones, and others are crafting their way to a brighter tomorrow.”
He also emphasized the importance of a conducive environment for women to realize their full potential, reinforcing the government’s commitment to their socio-economic empowerment.
The Lieutenant Governor reaffirmed his commitment to the socio-economic empowerment of women, emphasizing the importance of creating an environment where women can realize their true potential. He called on various stakeholders, including artists, artisans, NGOs, teachers, and entrepreneurs, to work together towards ensuring that the benefits of government schemes dedicated to women empowerment reach the grassroots level.
On the occasion, LG Sinha felicitated women achievers, students, and several organizations for their contributions to women’s empowerment. He also visited the stalls set up by women artists and artisans, showcasing their work.
Notable attendees included Priya Sethi, former Minister of State; Sanjogita Dogra, Founder of Buddha Art and Painting; senior officials from the Police and Civil Administration; heads of various educational institutions; and women achievers, artists, artisans, teachers, and students.
