Srinagar, Feb 27: Pashmkaar, a Kashmiri handicrafts brand has been awarded at the prestigious ET Now Business Conclave & Awards 2025, for its remarkable contributions in preserving and providing world-wide recognition to Kashmir’s exquisite art and craft.
Established by its Managing Director Tariq Ahmad Dar, Pashmkaar is currently renowned globally, embarking on a mission to elevate Kashmir’s intricate handicrafts to global prominence.
The award was presented to Tariq Dar by the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lieutenant General K. T. Parnaik, in a ceremony that celebrated businesses making a meaningful impact.
Speaking with Rising Kashmir, Tariq said, “This recognition is not just a milestone for Pashmkaar but a tribute to the skilled artisans who have preserved the centuries-old tradition of handwoven and hand-embroidered pashmina shawls.”
With a community of over 400 artisans, Pashmkaar is dedicated to preserving heritage, uplifting craftsmanship, and inspiring future generations to carry forward this remarkable legacy.
“This honour belongs to our artisans who are true custodians of our tradition and whose hands weave stories of culture, resilience, and excellence. Their dedication is the foundation of Pashmkaar, and we are committed to ensuring their craft is valued, respected, and sustained for generations to come,” Dar said.
Pertinent to mention here, the ET Now Business Conclave & Awards 2025 brings together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and visionaries, recognizing those who are shaping the future of business.
“This achievement is a milestone in its ongoing journey to empower artisans, preserve India’s rich textile heritage, and establish Pashmina as a national pride,” Tariq said.
Tariq Dar had started his venture from Srinagar following the footsteps of his father who had endeavored to carry forward the legacy of Pashmina business, at a very tender age.
“My father started this work at the age of 12. After years of efforts and hardwork he was able to start his own business of Pashmina shawls.” Dar said.
With his exceptional mastery and prowess Tariq Ahmad Dar has been pivotal in bringing global recognition and respect to artisans and their timeless crafts.
With this honour, Pashmkaar reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the world recognizes the timeless beauty of handcrafted pashmina while bringing dignity and respect to the artisans who keep this tradition alive.
Pashmkaar has rapidly expanded its presence to several countries which include Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan.
