UT bags bronze in Volleyball: J&K’s Football team creates history; emerges champion, wins gold in 67th National School Games

Srinagar, Nov 05: Creating history, Jammu and Kashmir Football team emerged champion in the prestigious 67th National School Games (NSG), thus won gold medal while Volleyball team of Jammu and Kashmir bagged third place and clinched bronze medal in these games which concluded with historic moments in a spectacular atmosphere under the radiant floodlights of TRC Synthetic Turf, with a spectacular awards ceremony, where a display of fireworks illuminated the night sky.
Displaying extraordinary soccer skills and exceptional motor ability, young J&K Footballers got the better of the formidable CISCE team in a tough contest by a solitary goal (1-0). For his superb performance, J&K’s Aditya Mahajan was adjudged as the man of the match, while for his consistent brilliance, Owais Ayoub was declared as the player of the tournament.
Earlier, in the semifinals at Polo Ground, J&K prevailed over customary strong Kerala in a thriller via penalty shootouts by (7-6).
In another exciting semifinal, CISCE defeated Rajasthan at Green Valley Institute Ground. 
Rajasthan and Kerala locked horns against each other in the match for the third place (hardliner), wherein Kerala showed composure, promise and resilience to emerge victorious to claim bronze medal.
Meanwhile, in Volleyball after suffering a setback in the semifinals against Uttar Pradesh, J&K team displayed exceptional spiking, smashing and lifting skills  against West Bengal in the hardliner, overcoming two straight set losses to win bronze.
In the Volleyball finals, UP trounced Rajasthan in an exciting contest to emerge victorious and lift the trophy. Mohd Salman was named as the man of the match, while Kunal Das was adjudged as the player of the tournament for his brilliance.
Meanwhile, in his congratulatory message to the Team, Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary to Government Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K has stated that J&K youth was immensely talented and their charismatic efforts have made the sports fraternity feel proud.
The hard work and dedication of the entire team of officials have been truly inspiring,” maintained Sarmad.
Director YSS J&K, Subash Chander Chibber in his message has accredited the success of J&K Football and Volleyball teams to the sheer-dint of hardwork by the players and officials, coupled with professionalism and fair selection.
With his dynamism and energy, the Joint Director YSS Kashmir, Waseem Raja emerged as the role model not only for the organisers but for the entire team of officials and players drawn from across the country.
The Deputy Director YSS (Central) Jatinder Mishra, Joint Director YSS Jammu, Suram Chand Sharma, DYSSOs of various districts and other officers and officials have left no stone unturned in making the event a grand success.
