Ganderbal, Feb 15: In a significant move to address the healthcare needs of the local population, the Health Department has installed an ultrasound machine at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Kulan Gund in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. This development comes as a relief to residents who have long struggled with the lack of diagnostic facilities in the area.
For years, the absence of an ultrasound machine at the PHC forced patients to travel to distant hospitals or private clinics for scans, often incurring additional costs and inconvenience. The installation of the machine is expected to significantly ease the burden on the community, particularly for pregnant women and patients requiring regular diagnostic services.
Khurshid Ahmad Sheikh, a local Lambardar, expressed his gratitude for the initiative but urged health officials to ensure that ultrasound services are operational at least twice a week to avoid further inconvenience. “We are happy that an ultrasound machine has been installed in PHC Kulan. It will ease the problems of hundreds of patients who previously had to travel outside or rely on private clinics,” he said.
The Health Department’s decision to equip the PHC with the ultrasound machine reflects its commitment to improving healthcare accessibility in rural areas. Residents hope that this step will be followed by further upgrades to the facility, ensuring comprehensive medical care for the community.
