SKUAST-K hosts awareness programme about ‘Mission YUVA’

Srinagar, Feb 14: To effectively take up the responsibility of execution of a flagship development pro-gramme “Mission Yuva Udhyami Vikas Abhiyan (Mission YUVA)”, Institute of Business and Policy Research organised an awareness programme about various provisions and platform of Mission YUVA at main campus Shalimar on Friday.
“With a vision to establish J&K as a thriving hub of enterprises and employment by fostering equity, dignity, and income and unlocking its inherent potential to transition towards prosperity” an Rs 1823 crore project, “Mission YUVA” has been implemented during the fiscal 2024-25 for accelerating employment opportunities through entrepreneurship in the UT of J&K. The mission is expected to generate 1.37 lakh youth employment opportunities through its four key verticals viz Nano enter-prise, Enterprise in Sunrise sector, strengthening existing enterprises, and Nano innovations and startups to be accomplished within the objectives; Investment Support, Interest Subsidies, Hand-holding Support, Market Access,” a statement issued here said. “Dr. S.H.Baba, Prof. and Head, IBPR and Nodal Officer of the mission gave a comprehensive presentation about various provisions and platform of the Mission. He highlighted the key challenges that necessitated the conceptualization of this large-scale enterprise acceleration initiative and detailed the objectives and execution methodol-ogies.”
The statement said that Dr. F.A. Shaheen, Prof. IBPR emphasised the mission’s significance in pro-moting innovation and startups in agriculture ecosystem. Prof. S.A. Wani, Dean, Faculty of Horticul-ture (FoH), commended the structured approach undertaken to implement Mission YUVA and high-lighted its transformational potential for J&K landscape. Prof. Wani stated that Horticulture and al-lied sectors play a crucial role in the economy of J&K and Mission YUVA presents an excellent oppor-tunity to integrate young minds into the sector through innovation and enterprise development.
Prof. N.A. Ganai, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, highlighted that the mission YUVA aligns with mandat-ed areas of SKUAST-K. He stressed that Mission YUVA presents an unprecedented opportunity for the youth of J&K to engage in entrepreneurial ventures that can reshape the economic landscape of the region. “SKUAST-K is committed to playing a pivotal role in this transformation by providing re-search-based solutions, technology-driven interventions, and capacity-building programs to support young entrepreneurs and he stated,” the statement said. “Prof. Ganai further assured full institu-tional support including, technical expertise, incubation facilities, and mentorship for aspiring entre-preneurs. He encouraged faculty members and researchers to engage with Mission YUVA and lever-age SKUAST-K’s resources to facilitate skill development, innovation, and enterprise acceleration.” Prior to the closing of the programme responsibilities were assigned to attending young scientists for organizing awareness programs in their respective faculties, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), and re-search stations. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Omar F. Khan, Asstt. Profes-sor and Coordinator of the program. The event was coordinated by IBPR faculty members Dr. Omar F. Khan, Dr. Abid Sultan, and Dr. K Gautam.
