Jammu, Feb 12: In a significant event for the academic and medical community, Sakeena Ittoo, Minister for Health & Medical Education, and Social Welfare along with other dignitaries released the highly anticipated college magazine, Umeed ‘2025’, at the Indira Gandhi Dental Hospital Auditorium in Jammu today.
The event, which marked a milestone in the efforts of the dental college, was attended by faculty, students, and distinguished guests from the field of education and healthcare.
Minister Sakeena Ittoo, in her address, emphasized the importance of education and healthcare as pillars of societal development and expressed her support for initiatives that bridge the gap between these sectors. She lauded the efforts of the dental college in creating an informative platform for students and faculty to showcase their work and achievements through the magazine.

Dr. Azhar Malik, the Editor-in-Chief of ‘Umeed 2025’, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Minister Sakeena Ittoo for her unwavering support in bringing this “dream project” to fruition. “The release of *Umeed 2025* is a momentous occasion for us,” Dr. Malik remarked. “This magazine embodies the hard work, dedication, and aspirations of our college, and we are honored to have the Minister’s support in realizing this vision.”

The magazine is a testament to the growing potential of the dental college, featuring articles, research highlights, success stories, and the future vision for the college’s role in advancing dental education and healthcare services in Jammu and Kashmir. Apart from Dr Azhar Malik, the other co-authors in the editorial board of this magazine are, Dr Rudra Kaul, Dr Rachna Dhani, Dr Shamim Anjum and Dr Kousain Sehar.

The word ‘Umeed’ is philosophically symbolic of the aspirations of dental fraternity who have always been in the hope that the government will take care of their cadre and interests and shall take steps in the interest of dentistry fraternity like Advertisement of posts, improvement in working conditions, recruitments to fulfil the vacancies etc.

Minister Sakeena Ittoo’s release of the magazine highlights the government’s commitment to improving educational standards and providing more opportunities for students in the Union Territory. The event concluded with a vision for collaborative efforts between educational institutions and healthcare providers, paving the way for a brighter and more promising future for the region’s youth.
