Srinagar, Feb 10: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (KPDCL) has introduced an upgraded version of its mobile billing application, Bill Sahuliyat Plus, aiming to simplify electricity bill payments and enhance customer convenience. The new app, now available for both Android and iOS users, offers improved features, including real-time smart meter data and a chatbot for instant query resolution.
Officials from KPDCL stated that the app had been under development for several months, with its beta version tested last year. It was finally made available to the public on January 28 after integrating the payment interface and conducting thorough testing.
“We have launched Bill Sahuliyat Plus with a user-friendly interface, providing real-time access to electricity data. Consumers can now add multiple Consumer IDs and track their usage more efficiently,” said an official from KPDCL.
One of the standout features of the app is its chatbot, Bill Sahayak, which provides instant responses to consumer queries. Additionally, the app allows users to access online services such as applying for new connections, changing names, or modifying tariff categories. It also supports various digital payment methods, including UPI, credit cards, debit cards, and digital wallets.
Consumers have welcomed the new version of the app, appreciating the improved accessibility and added features. Fayaz Ahmad, a resident of Srinagar, shared his experience: “Earlier, making payments was a hassle, especially for iOS users who had to use a web link. Now, with this app available on both platforms, paying bills is much easier.”
Another consumer, Nusrat Jan from Baramulla, highlighted the importance of the chatbot feature: “I often had trouble understanding my bill details. With Bill Sahayak, I get quick answers to my queries, which saves me a lot of time.”
In addition to the mobile application, KPDCL has also introduced the Unified Billing System (UBS) on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), with data centers in Mumbai and Hyderabad. This new system consolidates consumer data on a unified platform, improving efficiency in billing, collections, and data management.
Officials highlighted that UBS enhances accuracy and ensures compliance with regional data regulations. It supports advanced metering infrastructure and provides real-time insights into electricity usage, helping consumers manage their power consumption better.
With KPDCL serving around 12.10 lakh consumers through 67 billing centers across Kashmir, the introduction of these digital solutions is expected to significantly improve service delivery and customer satisfaction. Consumers are encouraged to explore the new app and provide feedback to help further enhance its functionality.
