Srinagar, Jan 31: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) general secretary Mohammed Khursheed Aalam on Friday highlighted the significance of grassroots politics and urged party workers and citizens to remain actively involved.
He was presiding over a ward meeting for Palpora at Shanglipora Eidgah, which was organised by Ward President Gh Nabi Rather. The meeting saw the participation of various party leaders including former Vice Chancellor for Handicrafts Dr Ali Mohammad Wani, Zone President Fayaz Ahmad Bhat and Vice Zone President Bashir Ahmad Bhat.
During the assembly, numerous community members highlighted concerns affecting the Palpora ward. Aalam attentively listened to the issues raised and assured attendees that the party would present their concerns to the relevant authorities.
As part of the party’s strategy to augment its local presence, Aalam instructed party workers to prepare for the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) elections, guiding them to identify and select suitable candidates for the polls.
The meeting also served as a moment of reflection, as members paid their respects to the family of the late Fatima, the wife of late Ab Ahad, who recently passed away. Aalam extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the party, expressing sympathy and support for the bereaved family. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. May the departed soul rest in Jannah,” he said.
The meeting concluded with a firm commitment from the members to collaborate for the betterment of the community and address the urgent issues faced by residents of Palpora ward.
