Srinagar, Jan 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees Conference and the Non-Gazetted Employees Welfare Association (NGEWA), SKIMS, Tuesday sought immediate promotions, benefits for the staff.
A meeting of J&K GEC, NGEWA SKIMS was chaired by Ishtiyaq Beigh where a fervent appeal was made to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Chief Secretary Atal Dullo and Director SKIMS that immediate action on long-pending issues affecting the dedicated staff of SKIMS, be taken forthwith.
A statement issued here said that the nursing officers, material management staff, Lab technicians, and other supporting personnel have been crucial to the smooth functioning of SKIMS, especially amid severe manpower shortages. “This challenge has intensified with the introduction of new departments such as the Cancer Institute, the upgradation of the Gynae Hospital, and the expansion of the Emergency Burn Ward and Emergency Lab. To ensure the continued excellence of healthcare services, it is essential that pending staff promotions are processed without any further delay,” the statement said.
It said that the Chief Secretary has already directed all sectional heads to fast-track pending promotion cases. “We appeal authorities to swiftly implement these instructions, recognizing the dedication and tireless efforts of SKIMS employees,” the statement said, adding that additionally, the there are two critical financial concerns that include immediate release of pending G.P. Fund bills, which are causing significant financial strain for employees and the long-overdue 3% Dearness Allowance (DA) hike, which remains a pressing issue for state employees.
“Under the leadership of Ishtiyaq Beigh, the Jammu & Kashmir Government Employees Conference and NGEWA SKIMS reaffirm their commitment to fight for the welfare of all employees. We hope that the concerned authorities will take prompt and decisive action to resolve these critical issues,” he said.
