Jammu, Jan 06: The two-day grand event of the North Zone Muay Thai Championship, organized by the Muay Thai Association of Jammu & Kashmir (affiliated with the United Muay Thai Association of India), concluded successfully at the Boxing Ring, Police Ground, Jammu on Monday.
The championship brought together participants from eight states and union territories, including Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, and the host UT Jammu & Kashmir. Approximately 250 players showcased their talent and skills in this thrilling event.
Neha Jalali (IIS), Director of the Press Information Bureau, Jammu, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In her address, she congratulated the organizers for their efforts and highlighted the importance of frequently organizing such events to promote sports and youth engagement.
The CEO and Chief Patron of the Muay Thai Association of Jammu & Kashmir Sahil Aggarwal expressed his gratitude for the successful organization of the event. “It is our prime duty and responsibility to encourage such sports to involve more youths and channel their energy positively,” he stated.
Vikram Randhawa, BJP MLA from Bahu constituency and Guest of Honor, lauded the event’s initiative in promoting sports. “It is crucial to attract youth towards sports activities to steer them away from the menace of drugs. We must work collectively to address this issue,” he emphasized.
Arun Gupta, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Jammu, attended as a special guest and shared his support for the event. Other notable attendees included Sanjay Bansal, Secretary General Kuljeet Singh Jamwal, and President Amit Singh, who commended the participants and organizers for the championship’s success. The championship highlighted the region’s growing interest in Muay Thai and underscored the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle among the youth.
