Srinagar, Dec 26: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (J&K PDF) chairman, Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Thursday urged the Jammu and Kashmir government to immediately implement the recommendations of the Justice Adarsh Sen Anand Backward Commission or the National Reservation Policy to address the ongoing row over reservations in the Union Territory.
Hakeem in a statement said the government must act decisively to end the alleged fears of a class war brewing due to the controversy surrounding reservation policies. He called on the administration to use its legislative majority to implement a balanced reservation system and ensure fair representation for all communities proportional to their populations.
“Jammu and Kashmir has always been a victim of political conspiracies and vested interests, and now divisive forces are using social media and public statements to pit communities against each other,” he said, adding that reservations must reflect the demographic proportions of all communities in the region.
The former minister warned that delaying a decision on reservations would exacerbate unemployment and delay the already overdue recruitment processes in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The government must immediately take a final call on the reservation policy without waiting for court judgments. Rising unemployment demands urgent action and a comprehensive and fair reservation policy is the need of the hour,” he added.
