Training on AI for ‘Smart Livestock Management’ concludes at SKUAST

Srinagar, Dec 14: Week long training programme on “AI Application for Smart Livestock” concluded today on 16th December, 2024 in a valedictory function held at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Shuhama campus of SKUAST-K.
Prof. Shayaib Ahmad Kamil, Dean F.V.Sc. & A.H. who was chief guest on the occasion praised the endeavor and emphasized on organizing more such programmes in future. Prof. M. Tufail Banday, former Dean, F.V.Sc. & A.H. and guest of honour highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence in the livestock and poultry sector.
Prof. Islam Uddin Sheikh, Head, Division of Livestock Production and Mangement (LPM) earlier welcomed the guests formally and congratulated the participants for successful completion of this training. Dr. Henna Hamadani, Assistant Professor, Division of LPM and training coordinator, presented the training report and briefed about the HADP project entitled “Sensor-based Smart Agriculture”. The function ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Raoof Ahmad Pattoo, Assistant Professor, Division of LPM.
The function was also attended by senior professor, Division of LPM, Prof. Hilal Musadiq Khan. The training was organized by Division of Livestock Production & Management, F.V.Sc. & A.H., SKUAST-K in collaboration with College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, SKUAST-K from 10th – 16th December 2024 under the aegis of Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP).
The trainees included scientists, research scholars, post graduate students, interns and final year students of veterinary sciences. Experts from prestigious institutes delivered lectures to enlighten the participants about the applications of artificial intelligence in the livestock sector. Industry experts based in Delhi, Pune and Germany, who are working in the area of AI and IoT also delivered lectures. Participants in their feedback expressed satisfaction and stressed for more trainings in this area.
