In a significant achievement, the final track work on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project has been completed, marking a historic milestone in India’s ambitious infrastructure development.
The ballast-less track work for the crucial 3.2 km-long Tunnel T-33, connecting Katra to Reasi, was successfully finished Friday at 2:00 am.
In a post on X, Union Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw said “Historic milestone; Final track work on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail link is complete.”
He further said that The ballast-less track work for the 3.2 km-long Tunnel T-33, located at the foothills of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and connecting Katra to Reasi, was successfully completed today at 02:00 hrs.”
The USBRL project, hailed as one of the most challenging railway ventures in the world, involves intricate tunnel and bridge construction across rugged mountains.
With this milestone, the dream of connecting Jammu and Kashmir through an efficient rail network is nearing realization.
