Srinagar, Dec 11: In continuation to its endeavors to foster entrepreneurship and skill development among the youth of the region, KVK Srinagar launched fifteen days ESDP training Programme on “Agripreneurship in Horticulture” as viable and sustainable commercial enterprise under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, SKAUST-K, for the UG Final year students of B.Ed College of Education, M A Road to enrich the trainees with latest technical knowhow and hand-on improvised technological interventions in horticulture and allied sectors.
The inaugural session was kick started at Conference Hall, Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K under the chairmanship of OSD to Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K, Prof. Azmat Alam Khan and graced by Dr. Purshotam and Dr. Liyaqut from Directorate of Extension, Dr. Mansoor, UG Coordinator from College of Education and scientists of the KVK Srinagar, were also present on the occasion. Prof. and Head, KVK Srinagar, Dr. S A Simnani stated that the Kendra has undertaken several outreach initiatives to bolster linkage with several FPOs/FPCs/NGOs/SHGs and to connect with higher educational institutions in particular to ignite young minds, to inspire them towards innovation and entrepreneurship.
Prof. Azmat Alam Khan in his inaugural address enlighten audience with the mile stones, the university has achieved under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nazir A Ganai who’s inspiring leadership has transformed the research-academic-extension landscape of the University.
He advised the organizers to expose the trainees to various state of art infrastructure facilities and showcase the innovations and start-ups at SKIIE centre at Main Campus, Shalimar. Dr. Uzma Bashir, presented the welcome address and Dr. Aasima Rafiq proposed the vote of thanks.
