Handwara, Dec 11: A suspected explosive device was found in a bag along the Handwara-Baramulla highway near the forest office in Langate on Wednesday.
Officials said the bag was spotted by locals, who immediately informed the authorities. A bomb disposal squad was called to the spot, and the device was successfully defused without causing any harm.
The incident briefly disrupted traffic along the highway, but movement was restored after the area was declared safe.
