Labour Dept, J&K concludes 2-Day Capacity Building Programme on Labour Reforms

Srinagar, Dec 07: The two-day Capacity-Building Programme on Labour Reforms, organized by the Labour Department, J&K successfully concluded on Saturday at Gandhi Bhawan, University of Kashmir.
The program aimed to enhance the understanding and implementation of Labour Laws, with a special focus on familiarizing officers and officials with the new Labour Codes.
During the concluding session, Labour Commissioner J&K, S. Charandeep Singh emphasized that such initiatives are vital for ensuring that Labour Department officials are well-equipped to efficiently enforce, monitor, and implement labour laws and reforms, making them more responsive and labour-friendly.
He also highlighted the importance of continuous capacity-building efforts to ensure better delivery of services to workers across Jammu and Kashmir.
The two-day event featured experts in the field, including Dr. Onkar Sharma, former Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) and Advisor to the V. V. Giri National Labour Institute, who led sessions on key Labour Codes, such as the Code on Wages, Occupational Safety, Health & Working Conditions Code, and the Social Security Code. Dr. Sanjay Upadhyaya, Senior Fellow at the V. V. Giri National Labour Institute, presented on ‘Human Rights and Constitutional Perspectives on Labour’ and the ‘Industrial Relations Code’.
The interactive sessions provided participants with valuable insights into the nuances of existing Labour Laws and the new reforms, fostering a comprehensive understanding of their implications and practical application. These discussions also highlighted best practices that will aid in the successful implementation of Labour reforms in Jammu and Kashmir.
At the conclusion of the 2-Day Capacity Building Programme, certificates of successful participation were distributed to all attendees. The certificates were handed over to the participants by the Labour Commissioner, J&K as a recognition of their active involvement and commitment to enhancing their knowledge and skills in the field of Labour Reforms.
The programme was attended by Deputy Labour Commissioner, Kashmir, Shahid Mehmood, Deputy Labour Commissioner (Central), J&K, Ideel Saleem, Assistant Labour Commissioners, Labour Officers, Labour Inspectors, and other officials from the Labour Department.
