Kishtwar, Dec 02: Former minister Ghulam Muhammad Saroori on Monday expressed deep anguish over the recent killing of four persons and the injuries sustained by several others during police action at the Shahi Jamia Masjid in Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking during his visit to the Keshwan area of district Kishtwar, he condemned the incident as a “glaring example of the rising hatred and violence against minorities, particularly Muslims, in the country”.
Saroori called for swift justice, saying the perpetrators must be held accountable. “The unjust actions by the authorities are creating an atmosphere of fear and alienation among minorities, tarnishing India’s democratic values and global image,” he said.
Addressing the ongoing Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) activities at Ajmer Sharif Dargah and Sambhal Masjid, the former minister criticised them as politically motivated moves to undermine the heritage and faith of the Muslim community. He urged the government to stop such divisive actions and focus on fostering unity and harmony.
“The rise in hate-driven narratives and targeted attacks is tearing the nation apart. India’s progress lies in its diversity and coexistence, not in marginalising its minorities,” he asserted. Saroori urged the people to remain united against such forces and uphold the nation’s secular fabric.
