Jammu, Nov 29: MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta, along with Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Dr Devansh Yadav, conducted an extensive tour of Ward No. 32 to assess developmental works, sanitation, and civic amenities. The Commissioner engaged with prominent citizens and Swachhata Champions to gather feedback on pressing civic issues.
Among others, Joint Commissioners (H&S) Abdul Star, Joint Commissioner (Works) Firdous Ahmad Qazi, Deputy Commissioner (North) Sanjay Badyal, Health Officer Dr. Vinod Sharma, and Executive Engineers of various wings of JMC accompanied the Commissioner during the tour.
The Commissioner directed the relocation of the entry gate of the Bhagwati Nagar transfer station, as suggested by the MLA, to minimize odour and enhance the area’s aesthetics. The concerned officials were instructed to prepare a detailed proposal in this regard.
Addressing the issue of plastic waste dumped at the entry road along Bhagwati Nagar, the Health Officer was tasked with organizing waste collection and identifying suitable state land for a scientific waste station.
Immediate patchwork and drain repairs were mandated for Himmat Colony, Ajit Colony, and Ambika Vihar, along with the repair or replacement of non-functional streetlights and the clearing of clogged drains. The Commissioner also called for furnishing sanitation workers’ attendance records from the past month to ensure accountability.
Taking serious note of unauthorized construction behind the Revenue Complex at Gol Gujral, the Commissioner ordered its immediate halt and directed the installation of warning signage to prevent further illegal activities. The Deputy Commissioner (North) was asked to verify the jurisdiction of Ambika Vihar and to initiate proposals for drainage works and repairs at the Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh Ji mini stadium, if within JMC limits.
The Commissioner stressed the need for diligent efforts and both short-term and long-term solutions to address civic challenges.
The Commissioner expressed gratitude to MLA Arvind Gupta and the local community for their proactive support.
