Srinagar, Nov 25: The quarter-finals of the 2nd Edition of the CRPF Cup 2024 moved further with Valley Fresh CC and MLA Gymkhana Budgam confirmed berths in the first semis.
The action of the day came in two exciting quarter-finals, played out at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, after a league phase that saw seven matches played across four venues: Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Kashmir University, SP College, and DPS Pantha Chowk.
According to the information received, with the league phase now over, the top two teams from each group advanced into the quarter-finals.
MLA Gymkhana Budgam won the first quarter-final in 48 runs against Team Amateur CC, with Sajad Gazi emerging as Player of the Match after batting out all his overs scoring unbeaten 60 and taking a much needed wicket “It feels great to see such a good game of cricket. Both teams played good cricket,” said a local from Sonwar.
The second quarter-final had Valley Fresh CC beat Al Samad CC by 46 runs. Danish Muzaffar, playing one of his most aggressive innings to date, scored an unbeaten 57, including four wickets, to take home the coveted Player of the Match title. “This win is the result of hard work and teamwork. We look forward to the games ahead and hope to see this kind of momentum continue,” said a player on the team.
Meanwhile, cricket fans at the grassroots level are gleeful. Fan spectator Zahid Ahmad said, “The standard of cricket this year has been incredible. The young talents in Kashmir are showing immense potential, and the CRPF Cup is providing them with the perfect platform to showcase their skills.
Now, with the semi-finals almost around the corner, the two winning teams will play one against each other to grab a position in this enthralling T20 tournament’s final, and the second quarter-finals is scheduled tomorrow. About today, charged up, anticipation was in the air as fans of Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium eagerly waited for the next round of action.

Quarter-Final 1: Al Samad Cricket Club vs Valley Fresh Cricket Club, at the Venue of Sher-e-Kashmir, Ground B, with Valley Fresh Cricket Club: 216/5 (18 overs), and Danish Muzaffar: 57 runs (29 Balls), 3-0-38-4 and Aqib Habba: 40 runs (12 Balls) and Al Samad Cricket Club: 170/10 (18 overs) and Amir: 53 runs (32 Balls). The Man of the Match was Danish Muzaffar (Valley Fresh Cricket Club).
About Quarter-Final 2: MLA Gymkhana vs Team Amateur, the venue was Sher-e-Kashmir, Ground B and MLA Gymkhana: 219/5 (20 overs) where S Gazi: 60 runs from 19 Balls, 4-0-44-1 and Tajamul Baba: 16 runs from 13 Balls, 4-0-38-3 and Amateur Cricket: 171/9 (20 overs) and Zaid Ahmad Wani 62 runs from 28 Balls. The Player of the Match was S Gazi of MLA Gymkhana.
