BGSBU students visit Salal Hydro Electric Project

Rajouri, Nov 24: Department of Civil Engineering at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) organized an industrial visit to the Salal Hydro Electric Project for B.Tech 5th Semester students.
This initiative aimed to provide students with practical exposure to hydroelectric power systems, enhancing their understanding of civil engineering concepts. The visit was facilitated by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC).
Prof. Jawaid Iqbal,Vice Chancellor of BGSBU, emphasized the importance of experiential learning, stating, “Such visits equip students with skills and knowledge to tackle real-world challenges and excel in their professional journeys.”
The Vice Chancellor hoped that the Department of Civil Engineering will organize more such visits in the future, providing students with hands-on experience and exposure to industry practices.
Shabaz Ahmad Mirza (JKAS), Registrar and Dr. A A Shah, Associate Dean SoET lauded the efforts of the department for organizing the industrial visit. Principal College of Engineering and Technology Dr. Vishal Puri also congratulated the department for organizing a successful industrial visit.
The students were accompanied by Dr. Pervez Alam, Coordinator of Civil Engineering, along with Assistant Professors Shahid Ul Islam and Zishan Aslam, and supporting staff. During the visit, the students engaged with NHPC professionals, gaining valuable insights into the operational and engineering aspects of hydroelectric power generation, thereby augmenting their theoretical knowledge.
The Department of Civil Engineering extends its gratitude to NHPC for facilitating this educational visit and enriching the students’ learning experience.
This initiative exemplifies BGSBU’s commitment to delivering a holistic and industry-aligned education, preparing students to thrive in their careers.
