Srinagar, Jan 02: Chairman of Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister, Hakeem Yaseen, has urged LG Manoj Sinha to address the concerns raised by aspirants regarding the selection of Police Sub Inspector (SI) vacancies. He highlighted the dissatisfaction among aspirants as only 190 candidates from Kashmir were selected out of a total of 300 vacancies for police SIs.
In a statement issued here, Hakeem, while advocating for the cause of Police SI aspirants, made a fervent appeal to LG Manoj Sinha to select more candidates from the Kashmir region to address their grievances. The aspirants from Kashmir felt disillusioned upon observing alleged discrepancies in the selection list issued by the JKSSB recently, he said, adding that there is an immediate need to rectify this injustice to restore hope and confidence among the Kashmir-based aspirants.
The PDF Chairman highlighted the escalating unemployment problem in Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as a severe issue affecting the societal fabric. He said that unemployment in Kashmir has been a significant factor contributing to the turmoil in the region since 1990.
Yaseen added that the rise in drug abuse and suicidal tendencies among Kashmiri youth is an outcome of the grim unemployment problem.
The former minister said the government was responsible for the unrest and depression among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, saying it failed to formulate an effective employment package.
Hakeem appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to address the unemployment crisis in Jammu and Kashmir by announcing a comprehensive employment package. “Such a gesture would not only win the hearts and minds of the common people, especially the unemployed youth, but also contribute to bringing lasting peace to the region,” he said.
