While welcoming the delegation, Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Atikur Rehman, expressed his gratitude for the initiative led by Dr. Sameer Sud, Co-founder and Director of Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals. He said that such health camps ensure the well-being of the campus community.
Prof. Rehman said access to quality healthcare services, especially for students and staff, is crucial in fostering a healthy learning environment. In future, Sharp Sight will organize more such camps on the campus, he said.
In his key address, Dr. Sameer Sud, Director and Co-founder of Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals said eye care is crucial to maintaining overall health and quality of life.
“Regular eye check-ups are vital in detecting common eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, and refractive errors like myopia and astigmatism, which, if left untreated, can lead to vision impairment or even blindness,” he said.
Dr. Sameer also highlighted the advancements in modern technology that have revolutionized eye care.
“Today, we have cutting-edge techniques to treat various vision problems, and surgeries can now be performed in minimal time. In many cases, we can permanently eliminate the need for glasses,” he added.
Dr Sameer also offered valuable tips and suggestions on reducing screen time on laptops, mobiles, and other digital devices to protect eye health.
Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Abdul Liman, Medical Officer NIT Srinagar, Dr Gowhar Nabi and other members of Sharp Sight Hospitals were also present on the occasion.
Manager Sharp Sight Srinagar, Tawheed Shah said that this camp was organized as part of the hospital’s ongoing outreach efforts.
