Jammu, Sept 30: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Monday asserted that the future of Jammu & Kashmir will be determined by the voters in the Jammu region. He claimed the area is progressing and that divisive forces will soon be defeated.
In a statement issued here, Chugh called on voters to support the Modi government’s vision for development. He called for accountability regarding the “atrocities” committed against the people during the tenures of the Abdullahs and Muftis – referring to the regional parties, National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Referring to the former chief minister and NC vice president Omar Abdullah, the BJP leader described him as a “confused politician”, saying that despite previously claiming he would not contest elections, he is now running in two assembly constituencies. He accused the Abdullahs and Muftis of secretly supporting pro-Pakistan forces, which he believes will be decisively defeated.
Chugh further said that the Prime Minister and Home Minister have already addressed the issue of statehood. “Abdullahs have lost a key talking point. They lack a clear agenda and their claims of Congress failing to perform in the elections reflect their own fears of a hung assembly,” he said.
“I am confident that Omar Abdullah will lose in both constituencies, and Mufti and her family will also face defeat,” the BJP leader said, adding, “The people of J&K no longer support separatists or those who have hindered development. The so-called ‘Gupkar gang’ will face defeat in elections.”
