NSS Units of GGM Science College celebrate NSS Foundation Day

Jammu, The NSS units of Government Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu, celebrated NSS Day with great enthusiasm and a sense of commitment towards community service. The event, held on the college campus, showcased a series of activities organized by NSS volunteers, emphasizing the importance of social responsibility and community engagement.

The celebration kicked off with sending Volunteers for blood donation camp held at MAM College, where volunteers from GGM Science College actively participated. A significant number of NSS volunteers came forward to donate blood, supporting the cause of saving lives and contributing to the well-being of society. Their selfless act reflected the core values of NSS, focusing on the importance of community welfare.

A major highlight of the day was a Nukkad Natak (street play) performed by the NSS volunteers, aimed at raising awareness about the rights and laws surrounding rape in society. The play, held on the college grounds, captured the attention of students and faculty alike, offering a powerful message on the need to protect and promote women’s safety. Through the creative and impactful performance, volunteers brought to light the social and legal aspects of such a sensitive issue, sparking meaningful discussions among the audience.

In addition to the street play, several cultural events were organized to engage the students. The singing competition witnessed talented volunteers showcasing their skills, with performances dedicated to the themes of patriotism and social unity. Alongside this, a slogan writing competition was conducted, where participants expressed their views on various social issues, including women empowerment, environmental conservation, and youth leadership.
To acknowledge the dedication and hard work of the NSS volunteers, a special ceremony was organized to distribute certificates of appreciation. Principal Prof Dr RomeshKumarGupta, Dr Rahul Kait and Dr. Neha Sharma, NSS Programme Officers of GGM Science College, handed over the certificates to the volunteers, commending them for their outstanding participation and commitment to the NSS mission of community service.
Prof. Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GGM Science College, graced the event as the chief guest. In his address, he praised the NSS units and the volunteers for their relentless efforts in organizing meaningful activities that contribute to the welfare of society. He encouraged students to continue their active involvement in NSS and highlighted the importance of youth leadership in creating a progressive and responsible society.

Dr. Gupta also emphasized the role of NSS in shaping the character of young individuals, urging them to take up more initiatives that focus on social causes. He lauded the street play and the blood donation camp as exemplary efforts in promoting awareness and compassion.

The NSS Day celebration at GGM Science College proved to be a vibrant and impactful event, successfully engaging students and faculty in a series of socially relevant activities. The participation of the volunteers in both cultural and service-oriented events reflected their dedication to the NSS motto of “Not Me, But You,” showcasing the spirit of service and responsibility towards society.
