Samba, Sept 24: District Election Office (DEO), Samba, under the guidance of DEO Rajesh Sharma, on Tuesday started two-day exercise to conduct home voting through postal ballots for Absentee Voters in the categories of Senior Citizens (AVSC) and Persons with Disabilities (AVPD across the three constituencies of Vijaypur, Samba, and Ramgarh.
Polling teams deployed for the exercise on the first day covered numerous voters across the district. The comprehensive outreach was aimed at ensuring that every eligible voter is able to exercise his democratic right, regardless of health or mobility challenges.
A total 386 absentee voters are being covered in the exercise including 167 in Vijaypur Constituency; 170 in Samba Constituency and 49 in Ramgarh Constituency.
As part of the initiative, DEO Rajesh Sharma personally visited several locations in the district, including Khour Salarian, where he interacted with home voters and received feedback on the process. DEO Sharma commended the polling teams for their efforts in ensuring extensive coverage, reaching voters even in remote areas on this first day of the exercise.
The DEO praised the commitment of the teams, acknowledging their hard work in covering the district comprehensively and ensuring last-mile connectivity. He emphasized that no eligible voter should be left behind, particularly those in vulnerable categories.
The home voting process will continue tomorrow, ensuring that all absentee voters in the district are fully covered.
This initiative highlights the commitment of the District Election Office to ensuring inclusive and accessible voting, making the process as convenient and safe as possible for every citizen.
