Srinagar, Sept 18: Voters in Pahalgam Constituency of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday expressed their desire for further development and focus on increasing foreign tourist arrivals to the scenic destination.
“We hope for better infrastructure and more tourism opportunities,” a voter told Rising Kashmir. “Development should focus on attracting international visitors to boost the economy.”
Six candidates are contesting the Pahalgam constituency, which has a total of 69,958 voters, including 34,974 male voters and 34,984 female voters. The constituency saw a voter turnout of 70.77%. The candidates include JKNC’s Altaf Kaloo, PDP’s Shabir Siddiqui, Apni Party’s Rafi Mir, ANC’s Shabir Padder, and two independent candidates.
The voters were optimistic about the future of Pahalgam, saying they want leaders who can enhance its beauty and improve tourism.
“We need someone who will focus on real development and not just promises, Altaf Ahmad, a voter said.”
He expressed confidence in the electoral process saying that the high turnout reflects their hope for a brighter future.
