Srinagar, Sept 07: Srinagar Police have taken action after a disturbing video surfaced online, showing a young man brutally assaulting his elderly parents in S.A colony Budgam.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with calls for strict action against the perpetrator.
According to a police spokesperson, the police acted upon a written complaint filed by the accused’s mother, Taja Begum wife of Ghulam Ahmad Wani. The complaint alleged that her son, Mohammad Ashraf Wani, had not only assaulted her and her husband but had also prevented them from entering their own home for the past year. In response, a criminal case (FIR No. 77/2024) has been registered under Sections 74, 126 (2) and 351(2) of the BNS at Nowgam Police Station.
The accused, Mohammad Ashraf Wani, a resident of SA Colony, Nowgam, has been taken into custody for questioning as the investigation progresses.
The video, which shows the young man violently hitting his parents, has been met with widespread condemnation. Social media users have expressed their anger and called for stringent legal action against Wani.
The police have assured the public that justice will be served.
