Kangan, Dec 21: In a concerted effort to enhance legal awareness and foster Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), the Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Kangan, under the direction of Mrs. Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary District Legal Service Authority Ganderbal, in collaboration With Human Rights Anti-Corruption Forum organized a comprehensive Legal Awareness programme at Government Degree College Kangan on Thursday.
The event, chaired by Essar-Ul-Nabi, Chairman TLSC Kangan, witnessed the active participation of various dignitaries, including Mrs. Nusrat Ali Hakak as the Chief Guest. The aim of the program was to educate the general public about the benefits and mechanisms of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Highlighting the significance of ADR, Mrs. Hakak commended the efforts of TLSC Kangan and urged participants to disseminate knowledge about ADR mechanisms. She emphasized that individuals with pending cases can approach relevant legal bodies for pre-litigation settlements through ADR.
Essar-Ul-Nabi, in his welcome address, acknowledged TLSC Kangan’s accomplishments, citing the resolution of approximately 1200 cases in Lok Adalats during 2023. Stressing the importance of ADR at the pre-litigation stage, he revealed that TLSC Kangan conducted around 30 awareness programs in remote areas throughout the year.
Advocate Sajad Ahmad Khan, a resource person at the event, elucidated the utility of ADR in resolving diverse disputes. He highlighted its cost-effectiveness and time-saving benefits, emphasizing TLSC Kangan’s successful application of ADR during the year.
The program featured speeches by Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Kangan and ICDS Officer Kangan, further underscoring the community-centric approach of ADR. Dr. Mudasir, a professor from Government Degree College Kangan, delivered the vote of thanks.
The programme was also attended by principal Degree College Kangan, ICDS Officer Kangan, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Kangan, State President Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum Farooq Ahmad Khatana, Sarpanchs and Panchs, ICDS Workers, Advocate, PLVs and General Public.
As a gesture of recognition, certificates were distributed to individuals who excelled in their respective fields, reinforcing the commitment of TLSC Kangan to promoting efficient and accessible legal solutions through Alternative Dispute Resolution.
