Pulwama, August 31 : The Returning Officer Tral Assembly Constituency has issued a notice to Mr. Surinder Singh, the Indian National Congress (INC) candidate, for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
The notice, dated 31st August 2024, was issued after videographic evidence gathered by the General Observer at Batgund, Tral.
The notice reads that Mr. Singh’s campaign involved the use of vehicles equipped with public address systems and banners without the necessary prior permissions.
The Returning Officer has observed in the notice that the actions are in direct violation of the MCC guidelines and the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
Mr. Singh has been directed to respond to the notice within 24 hours, providing a written explanation for the alleged violation.
The notice warns that failure to respond within the stipulated time frame will be taken as an admission of guilt, and appropriate legal action will be initiated against him and his party.
