Srinagar, Aug 14: In a significant step towards addressing the pressing issues of the region, Janata Dal (United) State President G M Shaheen and Moulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi held comprehensive discussions focused on healthcare, education, and combating drug abuse.
The meeting, held in a spirit of cooperation and mutual commitment, underscored the need for collective efforts to improve the quality of life in our community, the JD(U) said in a statement issued here.
It said the discussion highlighted the urgent need for improved healthcare facilities in the region. Shaheen emphasised the importance of access to quality medical care for all, especially in remote and underserved areas.
The leaders agreed on the necessity of establishing more healthcare centres and improving the existing infrastructure to ensure timely and effective medical assistance. The meeting focused on the critical role of education in empowering the youth and fostering sustainable development.
Shaheen and Dawoodi discussed strategies to improve educational infrastructure, including the construction of new schools and the upgrading of existing ones.
There was a consensus on the need to provide better training and resources for teachers to enhance the quality of education, the statement said, adding that special attention was given to the importance of promoting technical and vocational education to equip young people with the skills needed for the job market.
The alarming rise in drug abuse among the youth was a major point of concern during the discussions.
The JD(U) leader called for a multifaceted approach to tackle this menace, including stricter law enforcement, awareness campaigns, and rehabilitation programs.
The leaders emphasised the need for community involvement in prevention efforts and the creation of support systems for affected individuals and their families.
Shaheen expressed his gratitude to Moulana Dawoodi for his proactive engagement and commitment to these critical issues. He reiterated his dedication to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to bring about tangible improvements in healthcare, education, and the fight against drug abuse.
