Jammu, Aug 14: The Department of Journalism and Media Studies along with the Department of Defence Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS), and School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu Wednesday celebrated 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and gaiety.
Speaking on the occasion, Director, DSRS, Prof Virender Koundal said “We might not feel comfortable standing in this hot summer while soldiers stand on the border through unfavorable climatic conditions.”
He added “We use Chandan to mark Tilak on our forehead but soldiers use their blood to mark Tilak for our beloved nation “.
Head, Department of Journalism and Media Studies, Prof Garima Gupta said, “Students should take part in such activities so that the feelings of patriotism remain in them and they keep working for the interest of the country.”
Earlier, Prof Garima Gupta hoisted the tricolour in the presence of faculty and students of DSRS, SHTM and Journalism and Media Studies.
On the occasion students presented their love for the nation by performing various patriotic activities.
