After 8 days, murder case solved in Pattan

Srinagar, Aug 10: A week after a 23-year-old youth from Kreeri was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Khambiyar village, J&K police Saturday cracked blind murder case in Pattan and arrested 4 accused in the case.
The deceased was identified as Nasir Ahmad, S/o Fayaz Ahmad Ganai, resident of Pousnag Kreeri, whose dead body was spotted by locals underneath the Khimyar bridge on Aug 02.
A police official told Rising Kashmir that they cracked blind murder case in Pattan and arrested 4 family members involved in crime.
“It was a love triangle story; police initially tracked the phone of the deceased through which a few suspects were rounded up. During the investigation, it was revealed that Nasir was called by one of the accused and later he was strangulated with dupatta,” he said.
The police officer said that the deceased was initially beaten and after that he was strangulated and later his body was thrown underneath Khambiyar bridge on the night of Aug 01 and Aug 02.
Meanwhile on Aug 02 early morning, Police Post Palhallan received information about an unknown dead body found under the Khambiyar-Andergam bridge. The body was later identified as that of Nasir Ahmad Ganaie, a resident of Pousnag Kreeri.
The spokesman said that a police team led by SDPO Pattan DSP Shahjahan assisted by SHO Pattan Insp Mohd Shafi and DO Palhalan SI Raees Ahmad, carried out a sustained interrogation.
“During the examination of evidence and analysis of technical data, 4 accused from the same family were arrested in this case,” he said.
Police have identified the accused as Gh Mohiuddin Ganie son of Late Gh Nabi, Fatima Begum wife of Gh Mohiuddin Ganie, Rubeena Bano daughter of Gh Mohiuddin Ganie and Aadil Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Mohiuddin.
“They are all residents of Gundbal Pattan, district Baramulla,” he said.
The spokesman further said that during the investigation it was revealed that the accused hatched a conspiracy to kill the deceased on August 1, 2024. They strangled him to death using a dupatta and later disposed of the body under the bridge, he said.
“The have been arrested and are currently under police custody. The police team has also recovered the weapon of offense (dupatta) and other vital evidence,” he said.
The spokesman said further investigation is under process in the instant case.
Earlier SDPO Pattan Shahjahan Choudhary told Rising Kashmir that Nasir’s dead body was recovered 10 kilometres away from his house in Khimyar village.
Meanwhile, Nasir’s family stated that he was with them until late at night on August 01 and left around 9:30 PM to his new house, where he usually slept every night.
