Pulwama, July 28: A wild bear mauled two persons in the Ladhoo area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday.
Locals informed Rising Kashmir that Mohammad Aslam Kalu (30) and Talib Hussain Kalu (32) were tending their flock of sheep and goats when they were attacked by a black bear around 10:40 am.
They said that the incident occurred in the Nagbal Ladhoo area. “Both victims sustained significant injuries and were initially taken to PHC Khrew for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of their conditions, they were later transferred to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar for advanced medical care,” they said.
According to the Wildlife Department, the attack took place between the Mir Hajin and Gogjibal Nagbal areas while the victims were grazing their livestock.
They said that Aslam and Talib are undergoing treatment at SMHS Hospital.
Following the attack, a team from the Wildlife Department’s Range Khrew arrived at the scene and launched a search operation to track down the bear.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have advised residents to remain vigilant.
