Srinagar, July 18: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar on Thursday participated in the 11th day Muharram-Ul-Haram procession at Sheshgari Mohalla in Shahr-e-Khaas, Srinagar.
Sagar, who was accompanied by the party’s local unit functionaries participated in the solemn procession commemorating the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Aali Mukam(AS).
Praising the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain(AS), Sagar said, “Imam Aali Mukam (AS) taught that Islam is not just a set of certain acts of worship. Islam does not bind its followers to follow the orders blindly out of ignorance and fear. Karbala shows us that to follow the principles of Islam, the driving force must be love and loyalty, not fear or lust.”
He added, “Hussainiyat forever provides a loud and clear sign and an eternal symbol to direct all posterity towards the true spirit and aim of Islam, by distinguishing between the Haq and Batil. Imam Hussain(AS), his family, friends and followers made this possible by their great sacrifice.”
The NC leader said Imam’s decision of not swearing allegiance to the falsehood was not just a reflection of his own righteousness but it was a policy for the generations of humans to come. “A policy of freedom and free will, a policy of standing up against tyranny, a policy of standing up against oppression, and a policy of fighting back the enemies of peace. That policy is the greatest lesson from Karbala,” he added.
Sagar was all praise as he witnessed individuals from various backgrounds coming together to commemorate a momentous occasion with respect and unity. “The collaboration of volunteers from different communities has long been a remarkable feature of our historical brotherhood. Despite the blistering heat, they worked tirelessly side by side, setting up stalls to offer refreshments. Their joint efforts served as a powerful symbol of the common values of compassion and solidarity that surpass any sectarian divides,” he said.
“It was a sight to behold, a testament to the strength that lies in unity and the beauty that emerges when people come together for a greater cause. The collective spirit that permeated the event was a reminder of the power of togetherness,” he added.
