Kargil, July 14: Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, reiterated the safety and well-being of minorities in India, stating that they are well-looked after in the country. Speaking to media persons in Kargil on Sunday, Rijiju emphasized that minorities are safer in India compared to any other part of the world.
During his visit, Rijiju announced significant development initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic status of minorities in Ladakh. The announcements were made during a Beneficiary Interaction Programme by the Minorities Development and Finance Corporation in Delhi, where Rijiju also interacted with beneficiaries.
Among the key initiatives, Rijiju declared the establishment of a cultural center in collaboration with an educational institution. Additionally, he handed over a financial sanction of INR 10 Crores under the National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC) for Ladakh. He also expressed consideration for the introduction of Ziyarat tours for Shia Muslims, modeled after the Hajj pilgrimage.
The event saw the presence of Dr. Jaffar Akhone, Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC Kargil, and Haji Hanifa Jan, MP Ladakh, among others. Following the announcements, Rijiju attended Muharram Majalis at Jamiyat Ul Ulama Isna Ashria Kargil and Imam Khomenie Memorial Trust Kargil, interacting with President JUIAK Ladakh and Chairman IKMT Kargil.
