Srinagar, June 21: Army on Friday celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga (IDY), themed “Yoga for Self and Society” with great enthusiasm at Air Force Station Awantipora. The event saw active participation from Vayu Yodhas and their family members, who engaged in a series of yoga practices.
Air Warriors, trained as Yoga Instructors, led the mass yoga event by following the Common Yoga Protocol sequence, PRO Defence said in a press release issued here.
He said Junior Warrant Officer Ved Prakash, a Yoga Instructor, provided an introductory talk on the importance and health benefits of practising yoga. The event included various yogic kriyas, meditation exercises, sankalpa, prayer, and demonstrations.
The wholehearted participation of station personnel contributed to the event’s success.
Group Captain NK Dubey, Base Commander, addressed the gathering and encouraged everyone to adopt yoga as a part of their daily lifestyle.
