Srinagar, June 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday cautioned the public against believing false rumors circulating on social media that advise against night outings in Jammu.
A police spokesman said that attention is invited to a voice message of SP Reasi Ms Mohita wherein she is passing instructions to police and alerting sister security agencies to respond to a report received Friday in the afternoon about suspicious movements in a peripheral village of Mata’s shrine.
“Police with the help of army, paramilitary and security agencies have searched all the approach tracks to and slopes behind the shrine multiple times and has closed the operation after declaring it clear. There’s absolutely no reason to panic,” he said.
Earlier the police said that some social media handles are spreading fake information about avoiding night outings in Jammu.
“Police have taken strong note of such rumours and inform the public that this information is absolutely baseless. Do not take such rumours or fake information seriously. Police and security forces have maintained proper area domination and surveillance,” the spokesman added.
