In a devastating incident at Dangdaru power project in the mountainous district of Kishtwar, seven individuals lost their lives, and two  others sustained injuries on Wednesday.

The accident occurred at the site of the Dangduru dam project, casting a shadow of grief and sorrow over the region.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar, Khalil Ahmad Poswal told Rising Kashmir that the tragedy unfolded when a cruiser vehicle, transporting project workers, veered off course and plunged into a deep gorge near the dam project site.

“The sudden and harrowing incident took the lives of seven workers, while leaving two others severely injured,” SSP said.

However the identification of victims is yet to be ascertained.

He said that authorities swiftly responded to the scene, initiating rescue and recovery operations. Emergency services, including police and medical personnel, were dispatched to the accident site to provide immediate assistance. The injured were promptly evacuated and transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent medical care.

He said that case has been registered in this regard.
