JAMMU, July 03: In a remarkable display of faith, a total of 4,758 yatris set out on Monday morning from the Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp in Jammu to embark on the sacred Amarnath pilgrimage in Kashmir. Pilgrims have opted for both the traditional Pahalgam route and the Baltal route, as they seek to undertake this revered journey.
Although both routes are available, a significant majority of the pilgrims from across the country continue to show a preference for the traditional Pahalgam route, drawn to its timeless spiritual significance and breathtaking natural beauty.
According to Joginder Taak, the Incharge of Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas, a total of 3,030 pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp to Pahalgam, utilizing 127 vehicles for their journey. Among these pilgrims were 2,426 males, 392 females, 4 children, 177 sadhus, and 31 sadhvis, all eagerly embarking on their spiritual odyssey.
Simultaneously, 1,728 yatris commenced their pilgrimage from the Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp to Baltal, making use of 96 vehicles. This group consisted of 1,355 males, 335 females, 15 children, 21 sadhus, and two sadhvis, all with a shared commitment to reaching the holy destination.
The Amarnath pilgrimage holds profound religious significance for devotees, who willingly endure challenging conditions to seek the divine blessings of Lord Shiva at the sacred cave shrine. Authorities have made extensive arrangements to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of all pilgrims throughout their journey.
As the pilgrimage progresses, it is expected that more devotees will join in, adding to the collective devotion and spirit of the Amarnath Yatra.
