3rd Vice Chancellor’s Employees Cricket Tournament commenced at IUST

Awantipora, Nov 17: Prof. Shakil A Romshoo, Vice Chancellor IUST inaugurated the third Vice Chancellor’s Cricket Tournament, along with Inter Department Cricket Tournament (Men and Women), at Islamic University of Science and Technology on Thursday. The event organized by The Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, IUST will run from Nov. 17 – 30.

Vice Chancellor said that such events are important to ensure the overall development of personality and help in mitigating the pressures that individuals battle on daily basis. He appreciated the participation of women’s teams and emphasized that sports engender camaraderie and team spirit, and should form an inseparable part of our daily routine. He further said that Cricket, being a popular game helps to remove the barriers between layers of administration, as all play like a team.

VC complimented the Directorate for being at the forefront in organizing such events regularly in the varsity. He wished the players the best and emphasized playing the game in a good but competitive spirit.

A total of 24 teams (10 staff and 14 student teams) will be participating in the two tournaments. Present on the occasion were Dean Academic Affairs, Registrar, Dean Research, Finance Officer, other Officers, Students, Faculty, and Staff members.
