Srinagar, Sep 20: Three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were killed and 31 others injured after a bus fell into a gorge in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday, officials said. BSF’s Kashmir Frontier Spokesman told Rising Kashmir that a fatal accident took place in the Brell Waterhail area, as a bus was carrying 34 BSF personnel for election duty. Out of that 3 lost their life on the spot and rest were referred to SKIMS and BSF Hospital Humahama, he said. The accident occurred when a hired bus carrying BSF jawans for election duty in the upcoming second phase of assembly polls fell into a gorge near Brel of Watarhaal. The spokesman said the deceased personnel have been identified as Dayanand, Ram Ajadiya Singh, and Sukh Basi Lal. The injured were identified as Govind, Munish Kumar, Vikrat Singh, Ravinder Kumar, Ranjeet Kumar Gond, Rahul Kumar, Chandan Parmonic, Keshap Samday, Swadhin Dolaey, Swadhin Dolaey, Arman Raj, Balbir Kumar, Manvir Singh, Hansraj, AB Thappa, Arjun Singh, Satinder Singh, Harchan Singh, Vicky Kumar, Surinder Kumar, Rakesh, Lukeshwar Pawe, Ravi Sahnker Pawey, Sri Navsan ASI, Constable Shiv Kumar, Mohd Yousuf, Hawaldar Surinder Singh, Nagana Tegi, Dewinder Kumar, Barkat Ali and Ashraf Ali. He said that three jawans were referred to BSF Hospital Humahama, seven to SKIMS, one to Bone and Joint Hospital Srinagar. Even some injured were shifted to SHMS hospitals late evening, the spokesman added. “The wreath laying ceremony of deceased jawans will be held on Saturday morning at BSF headquarters with full honour, where their bodies would be sent to their respective places,” he said. The second phase of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) will be held on 25 September. “Three troopers have succumbed to their injuries, while the others are receiving treatment at Meanwhile, Director General of Police, J&K, R.R. Swain expressed sorrow over the tragic road accident of a vehicle in which three BSF personnel lost their lives while several were injured. In his message, DGP has expressed profound sadness over the tragic loss of three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and injuries to several others in a tragic road accident in Brell, Waterhail area of Budgam district. He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, colleagues, and loved ones of the deceased personnel. “We mourn the loss of these dedicated soldiers who tirelessly served the nation. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and assured all necessary support and assistance by the J&K Police,” DGP Swain in his message said. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir range, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, alongside the IG BSF Kashmir Frontier, visited the injured BSF soldiers at the City Hospital on Friday evening. They were joined by the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, SSP Srinagar, SSP Budgam, DC Budgam, and other senior officers. This visit comes in the wake of a tragic bus accident in Waterhal area of Budgam district, which resulted in the death of three (03) BSF soldiers and injuries to many others. During his visit, the IGP Kashmir expressed deep concern for the well-being of the injured soldiers. He interacted with the medical staff to ensure they were receiving the best possible care. Additionally, the IGP offered words of encouragement to the injured and assured them of full support during their recovery.
