15-Day Hindi Pakhwada celebrations conclude at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 18: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar marked the culmination of a 15-day Hindi Pakhwada celebration with a grand valedictory ceremony held on Wednesday.
The event, organized by the Rajbhasha Cell on the NIT Srinagar campus, featured a range of activities aimed at promoting the use of official language in the institute. 
The valedictory ceremony was graced by the presence of the Director of NIT Srinagar, Prof. Sudhakar Yedla, who served as the Chief Guest for the occasion.
The event witnessed the participation of several distinguished guests, including the Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari, Deans, Heads of Departments, and Heads of the Centres and Sections. Deputy Registrar, Assistant Registrars, faculty coordinators, teaching and non-teaching staff, and enthusiastic students were also present at the mega event.
Addressing the gathering, Director Prof. Yedla commended the efforts of the Rajbhasha Cell for their outstanding work during the Hindi Pakhwada. Over the past two weeks, the Rajbhasha Cell organized a variety of activities, benefiting both students and employees of the Institute, he said.
Prof. Yedla highlighted that the Government of India has taken proactive steps to promote the use of the official language in academic institutions across the country. A Parliamentary Sub Committee is overseeing the progress of these initiatives, and a recent review of NIT Srinagar was held in Srinagar, he said.
 He praised the Rajbhasha Cell, led by Dr. Rajesh Shukla, for their exceptional work but emphasized the need for continued progress in alignment with the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee.
The Director emphasized the importance of mastering the Hindi language, stating that it is a sweet language that holds a special place in the hearts of many compared to English.
 He encouraged everyone to overcome shyness and actively converse in Hindi to improve their language skills.
Prof. Yedla expressed his hope that, by the next year, there would be a significantly enhanced understanding and use of Hindi on the campus.
In a special segment of the event, the toppers of the recently conducted Probh Exams were felicitated by the Director, Registrar, Deans, and other dignitaries.
Mudasir Shafi, ( Junior Assistant), secured the 1st position, followed by Junaid ul Islam, (JE- EMAR), who bagged 2nd position, and Towheed Hussain, (Junior Assistant), clinched the third position.
In the essay writing competition 1st position was bagged by Sunil Lega, followed by 2nd position by Shanu Singh, and 3rd position by Niti Thakur.
In the Debate Competition, 1st  position was bagged by Ashutosh Kumar, followed by 2nd position by Shivam and Tarnjot secured 3rd position.
In the extempore competition, Dhairyasheel Hasbe bagged the first position; Piyu Chatterjee secured second, and 3rd position was bagged by Nidhi.
In the Hindi Quiz Competition for teaching staff, Dr. Yashwant Mehta bagged first position, 2nd position by Dr. Harveer Singh Pali, and 3rd position was secured by Dr. Ujwal Warbhe and Dr. Noor Jaman Khan.
Similarly, in the non-teaching staff category, Basarat Bashir (Junior Assistant Legal Cell) secured first position in non-teaching staff, second position by Aaqib Jain, 3rd position was secured by Naresh Dubey and Mohd. Abrar Khan.
In the noting and drafting competition, Naresh Kumar bagged the first position, followed by 2nd position by Mushraf Farooq, and 3rd position was bagged by Zubair Yousuf Khan respectively.
In the ‘Administrative Vocabulary’ competition first position was bagged by Mushraf Farooq, 2nd position by Sohail Ahmad Baba, and 3rd position was shared by Naresh Kumar and Mohd. Abrar Khan.
During the program, two plays were presented, one based on the novel “Gaban” written by Premchand, and another was based on an important issue of the modern era, depicting life in an old age home.
Dr. Rajesh Prasad Shukla, Hindi Officer at Rajbhasha Cell, discussed the efforts made in the field of Hindi in the institution and commended everyone’s endeavors.
He said the 15-day Hindi Pakhwada celebration served as a platform to foster a stronger connection with the Hindi language and to promote its active use within the NIT Srinagar community, aligning with Ministry initiatives to strengthen the presence of the official language in educational institutions.
